I have been making art to help me think about being a woman, daughter, mother and worker and how I can make sense of my place in the world.  My most recent work is a response to regular pub meetings with old school friends. My school class of ‘76 met at the age of 11- the optimistic time of punk and enforcement the 1970 Equal Pay Act. Now in our fifties my friends support and celebrate each other whilst acknowledging the invisible and often anonymous unpaid work we undertake for others on top of their day jobs. I have been looking at S. Federici’s investigations of the capitalist rationalization of social reproduction and been thinking about how older women are framed by others and ourselves?  I have used pictures of my friends and older family members as inspiration employing traditional and digital mediums to place images on consumer goods and art objects.
